Counselling and Psychotherapy

The key difference between Counselling and Psychotherapy lies in the recommended time required to see benefits. Counselling usually refers to a brief treatment that focuses on behaviour patterns while Psychotherapy focuses on working with clients for a longer period of time and draws from insight into emotional problems and difficulties.
There are many different types of Psychotherapy. I personally work within an integrative approach with its basis around Transactional Analysis, person-centred, psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapies.
How long it takes very much depends on what you wish to achieve. Short term work is helpful in focusing on specific issues, longer term work enables us to work with more deep seated issues and concerns.
I offer face-to-face counselling and the sessions are usually for one hour meeting weekly but these can be spaced out if weekly proves difficult but depending on what you wish to achieve. The cost of each session is £40. I operate a sliding scale for those unable to pay the full cost. Please do ask if this applies to you.
I require 24 hours notice of cancellation otherwise I will charge for the session.
